So let's get down to the details...
THE DESIGN
For smoking, the M1 is designed as a mini reverse airflow smoker. This means the firebox is located on the left side separated by an insulated baffle. The baffle opening is located on the right side (opposite side) of the firebox which allows smoke and heat to enter the cook chamber. The exhaust (smoke stack) is located on the same side of the firebox above the baffle at cooking grate level. This setup allows smoke and heat to travel underneath your top cooking area and travel back over your food as it exits out of the lid of the smoker. This method allows a better convection, less hot spots, and a smaller foot print design by not having the firebox sitting out of the cooker. By keeping the firebox inside the body, you are keeping the radiant heat inside the smoker which translates to longer, steady, more efficient burn times. The insulated baffle also keeps high heat from the firebox from over heating your foods. Overall, the M1 can be used as a charcoal smoker for long unattended cooks or as a bonafide stick burner to give you the same style of barbecue that will rival your favorite restaurants. You will never want to eat out again!
Let's not stop there. The M1 is so much more than just an awesome patio smoker. With the adjustable charcoal grilling grate, you can throw away that flimsy charcoal grill. Let's face it, there are not many charcoal grills made to last these days. But now you have a charcoal grill that should outlast you. The M1 features a heavy 10 gauge steel grate lifting mechanism to give you full control of your grilling. If you need a high heat sear, simply raise the grate up by turning the stainless hand crank on the front of the grill. Need to instantly turn the heat down? Turn the crank and lower the grate up to 10". No more burning up your food or having to deal with flareups you can not control. We understand the first thing to go on a charcoal grill is the grates. So we make ours in house with 1/4" thick 304 stainless steel rods. You will never have to worry about cooking on nickel or porcelain grates that eventually crack exposing rusted metal or the risk of ingesting dangerous materials. Keep your family safe and cook on stainless!
THE FIREBOX
The M1 features a a 10 gauge 304 stainless steel self enclosed firebox design wrapped in thick thermal insulation within the 10 gauge M1 shell. In other words, the M1's firebox is double walled 10 gauge 304 stainless steel and packed with thermal insulation.
The entire Fire Box Door is made of 304 stainless steel! Starting with thick 1/4" 304 stainless steel door and frame tig welded to solid 304 stainless steel hinges. Finished off with a solid stainless damper handle, slide rails and lever. The firebox door is completely removable with it's (9) 1/4" stainless steel bolts. The door also features a 1-3/8" hole directly below the firebox basket to place a temperature control fan such as a BBQ Guru or Flame Boss Automatic Temperature Control System.
The Fire Box Basket has been completely redesigned to hold more charcoal and give you easier access for refueling and adding logs of wood. This new fire box basket is made from 10 gauge steal and laser cut with over 150 air vent holes configured for high performance charcoal and wood burning use.
This new basket allows longer unattended cooks and a "stepped" shape to allow more pockets of airflow for stick burning.
THE BODY
The M1's body is laser cut 10 gauge 304 stainless steel and precision formed. Each body is hand tig welded and finished by our small team of highly skilled fabricators.
The M1's lid features a low profile 304 stainless steel exhaust stack. The exhaust opening is positioned right above the left cooking grate. The amount of airflow the M1 has makes it a wonderful stick burner.
Every handle and lever is solid 304 stainless steel. The handle brackets are thick 10 gauge stainless steel with stainless steel tubing handles that are not only beautiful, they will last forever! The Lid and Body features a gasket sealed flange. Once the lid is closed, this gasket seals off any leaks of air, smoke, or moisture. This design keeps everything inside the cooker.
The extremely beefy solid stainless steel hinges will keep your M1 opening and closing with ease for a lifetime.
Overall, everything on the M1 has been re-engineered to make it an even better cooker and replacement parts (if ever needed), are a piece of cake. We want you to keep your M1 for a lifetime.
COOKING SURFACES
Every M Grills grate is made in house with thick 1/4" 304 stainless steel.
NO porcelain coated or nickel plated grates here. We only make the best.
The M1 features a brand new 12 gauge 304 stainless steel TOP SHELF EXTENSION that is completely removable. With this new design, you can remove the top cooking grates while leaving the top shelf on or simply just remove a single grate if you like. For instance, burn a wood fire on your charcoal grate as you would in a Santa Maria style grill! This gives you so many creative ways to cook on your M1!
THE M1 IS THE BEST ALL-IN-ONE BACKYARD COOKER.
Here's why:
Standard Charcoal Grills: Usually made of thin steel and feature a fixed charcoal grate. Most charcoal grills are held together with nuts and bolts and do not hold up over time. While we think charcoal is by far the best flavor in bbq grilling, most charcoal grills are now built to be replaced in a couple of years and mass produced overseas.
Offset Smokers: Inexpensive ones are usually a nightmare to smoke on. Thin steel and terrible craftsmanship. Air gaps in lids and firebox doors make them very difficult to control temperature. High end offset smokers usually fix these problems, but can be very large and overkill for the average smoking enthusiast.
Ceramic Cookers: Lack capability of using only hardwood for smoking. This all wood method of "stick burning" is the holy grail of flavorful BBQ. Most ceramic cookers lack the capabilities of 2 zone grilling as well. No ceramic cooker has a fully adjustable charcoal grate. Ceramic cookers can also be difficult to control heat once you over shoot your target temperature. Limited on cooking capacity.
Pellet Cookers: Need electricity to use. Pellets or debris can easily jam augers. Too many parts can go wrong over time from mechanical to electrical. Pellets lack the ability to match the flavor of charcoal grilling and all wood burning smoking.
Gas Grills: Well, it's gas.
